it's really hard to pick a favourite, i think it really depends on the subject of the song... like a great song about change is "a hard rain's gonna fall" by bob dylan... then you might get something like "jesus etc" from wilco which may not be an AMAZING song lyrically, but it's still pretty good and sums things up so concisely, the lyrical style matches the feeling of the song... someone once mentioned how nirvana weren't a great band, but kurt was very astute at matching the music, meaning and delivery... if you looked at love songs, you might say REM's "Country feedback" is a phenomenal song lyrically... it really depends on what you're looking at, and it's so subjective...

i really love modest mouse lyrics, i think "teeth like god's shoeshine" is an amazing stream of nonsense and lucidity... "grey icewater", "stars are projectors", you could go on and on with so many excellent choices... i often find myself thinking the same patterns as isaac...

forkinthewave @ 03:25 pm: Okay, let's do this once and for all. I want to give cleansation to somebody who has a "vision" for it, and is interested in maintaining and improving the community, someone who's in for the long run. We will also get the mod team working together finally as well, so there will be no more chaos and mystery banning, etc. Interested in being a mod or maintainer? Comment freely.

The Problem With Music

i know everyone's probably seen this article, but i was wondering if anyone has any thoughts... considering how much flak modest mouse took for using a song in a commercial, i think it puts an interesting perspective on the issue, 'caus if this is right, bands make absolutely fuck-all...

i finally had a listen to the new modest mouse track, and it sits well with me... i agree with pitchforkmedia.com, isaac's voice sounds more confident, like a a strutting cat... there is a slight pub sing-a-long quality to it which is maybe a bit disturbing, but what the fuck i guess...

aro_pax @ 02:40 pm: hi everyone
i'm new here, not really too sure about the general feel and focus of the community, but it's the best out of all the modest mouse-y ones i've checked out (some are really dire)... anyway, just thought i'd poke my head in the door...

zefphaman @ 02:04 pm: alright, i think nirvana is the most over rated band of all time.

anyone agree??? if not who is more over rated???

don't get me worng, i do like the band, to a degree, but everyone speaks of them like kurt cobain was freakin' christ reborn.
